Discussion
items
a.
OLL Update
i.
MAD – Fully
functional with a few caveats. One clerk retired last summer so are a bit short
staffed as the position hasn’t been replaced yet. Staff can’t be in the
workspace at the same time so need to rotate times in the building. Volume (both
borrowing and lending) is hovering about half of what it is in normal times.
Anticipate that the volume will grow as more libraries nationwide come back
online and reopen.
ii.
Library of
Congress started accepting returns this month. They are still not lending
materials yet. There are also some really big library systems and heavy lenders
that aren’t doing ILL/OLL at all. This sometimes limits where we can get items
from.
b.
WISCAT Update
i.
WISCAT doesn’t
work well with ILLiad so there are some issues with
it. Glad it’s an option for us but it can be a challenge to work with – not
seamless.
ii.
WISCAT renewal
process was streamlined for 2021. No problems and it seemed to go okay
c.
Proposed ILL28 IType
i.
To circulate OLL
items during the pandemic, MAD had to do some workaround things to circulate
OLL items during the pandemic. They proposed a new IType
to the Circulation Services Subcommittee: ILL28 is a 28 day loan ILL IType. It was approved at the Circulation Services
Subcommittee and is now before the ILS Committee for approval at their next
meeting. This new Itype will be an option for any
SCLS libraries to use as part of their ILL workflow. It has identical
parameters to the other two ILL Itypes except for the
loan period.
ii.
Default
replacement price for ILL items is $999 – this can be changed by library staff.
d.
OLL Statistics
i.
Annual Report was
“fun” this year because of what DPI asked for this year. Statistics were being
asked for in a different way than what DPI was looking for in the past with the
Annual Report.
ii.
Wondering if
there are specific types of lending statistics that you want to have that only
MAD can generate? Some may be able to be derived from Bibliovation.
Are there other reports or statistics that libraries need/want from Kathy? If
so, let Kathy know. Statistics from Kathy would be from ILLiad.
iii.
ILLiad numbers from Kathy – request numbers vs
filled.
iv.
WISCAT numbers –
we get from DPI but they don’t necessarily look the same as the numbers that Kathy
gets
e.
ILL/OLL Contact
List Update
i.
Jean and Kathy
created a form to collect contact list updates. Jean will be contacting
libraries who didn’t respond or that we have questions for. This will be an
annual occurrence usually in December or January of each year.
f.
Rio and
Marshfield joining LINKcat
i.
Rio’s go live
date is June 1, 2021. Migrating all of their data.
ii.
MFD tentative
date is September 13, 2021 – migrating all of their data
1.
Let Heidi O. know
of any tasks related to ILL/OLL because they loan/borrow on their own
g.
ILL/OLL Basics

is open.
