Action
items
a.
Meeting format going forward – Hybrid or
Online
i.
Discussion: Meet online – saving time,
convenient, reluctantly say that online is okay. Online best for most libraries
with acknowledgement that hybrid/in person is missed.
ii.
Decision: Meet online for 2022, revisit the
decision each year, and when possible plan for special in person training or
meeting

MAD –
OLL Update
i.
Madison had a “fun” summer. A long term page
retired in June and another staff member on leave since August. Emily and Kathy
were a bit short staffed. Mary Fandrich, former OLL
staff member, stepped in to help and they’ve been excused from most of their
desk time. A new clerk, Amanda, started this week and hoping Leo will be back
from leave soon.
ii.
Snapshot of numbers for the last three
Octobers (2019 – 2021). Not back up to where we were pre-pandemic. Doing about
2/3 of 2019 borrowing requests and about half of the lending requests. Statewide
Ill Coordinators meeting last week some systems are reporting a lot of
vacancies and some libraries have resumed borrowing things via OLL.
iii.
Pandemic adjustment that was going to be temporary
but now will be permanent. Made the decision to give longer circulation times
due to pandemic and quarantine. Switched to circulating items for 4 weeks and
discouraging renewals. Still have to respect and pay attention to the due date
from the lending library but they have found this change allowed them to streamline
their process to give longer loan period and discourage renewals. MAD was
worried that patrons would ask about renewals but found that it hasn’t
happened. There is a new iType available to any Bibliovation library.
1.
ILL 28 day iType
created. Libraries can assign those to their records instead of ILL 7 or 14. If
you charge overdue fines, you need to add/submit a form requesting the overdue
fines to circulations using that item type. Heidi sent out an email earlier
this year – system is using default overdue.
2.
From Heidi Oliversen’s
email to LINK-Directors on 8/13/2021:
a.
In April
2021, the ILS Committee approved the addition of the ILL28 item type. The item type is available for use by any
library and has the same parameters as the other two other ILL item types,
except for a 28 day loan period.
b.
However, if your library wants to use this
item type and you want to charge overdue fines, you need to submit a
Circulation Issuing Rule change
request form.
iv.
Look for the year end updates coming out soon to
update contact information and preferences
b.
